Jordan “The Monkey Man” Leavitt Returns in April
Rising UFC contender Jordan Leavitt is set to make his fourth walk to the octagon in April.
“The Monkey King” has captured UFC fans with his outgoing, fun, and lively personality. Not to mention his post-fight dance moves – most notably when he drops into the splits. It is easy to say that Leavitt has surely captured a piece of UFC stardom.
After gaining a UFC contract by way of the Contender Series back in the summer of 2020, Leavitt has gone 2-1 in the UFC. Leavitt defeated Matt Wiman in his UFC debut by a beautiful slam in just under 30 seconds. Following this, he lost a unanimous decision to Claudio Puelles but bounced back in his most recent walk to the octagon against Matt Sayles, defeating Sayles via an introverted triangle choke.
He will return just four months later to face Victor Martinez on April 16th.
Martinez, also a Contender Series alum defeated Jacob Rosales on the 2021 series and will make his official UFC debut against Leavitt. Martinez is also coming into this fight riding a seven-fight win streak.
The matchup is going to be quite a fun one, as Leavitt is going to be looking to take it to the ground, and Martinez will likely want to keep it standing up. Either way, it will be exciting to see the extremely fun Jordan Leavitt take on an eager lightweight contender in Martinez.
The April 16th UFC Fight Night card will also feature a main event bout between top five welterweights Vicente Luque and Balal Muhammad. In addition, Chris Barnett will make his return against Martin Buday, and top 15 welterweights Uriah Hall and Andre Muniz will face off.
UFC Fight Night: Luque vs. Muhammad will take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be broadcasted on ESPN/ESPN+.
