Jorge Masvidal calls for a title bout in Miami with fans in attendance this April
The BMF champ is looking to get back in the Octagon. Jorge Masvidal wants another shot at the welterweight title and has expressed when and where he wants the fight to happen on his personal social media.
“Was just sent this and I’m hungry. Miami April 2021, AA Arena with the fans #supernecessary,” Masvidal wrote on Twitter.
Masvidal is coming off of a title shot in July when he stepped in on very short notice to take on champ Kamaru Usman. Masvidal stepped up to the plate to fill in against Usman after his original opponent, Gilbert Burns tested positive for COVID. Masvidal had been climbing the ranks over the last year or so with some monster wins over top-ranked opponents. There was no doubt that he was on his way to a title shot and stepping in on a week’s notice he put his true shot on the back burner. If he had waited and set up a title fight with a full camp the outcome might have been very different.
With Usman and Burns finally getting in the cage together on February 13, perhaps Masvidal has a chance to fulfill his wish of getting the winner in April. As for asking for the bout in Florida with fans in attendance, that might be a tougher task. Since the last event held in Florida back in March, the only two locations for UFC events have been Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi. perhaps the landscape of the country will change by then and maybe more availability to hold fights in different venues will become a reality.
As for Jorge Masvidal he has been sitting patiently waiting for another shot at the title and if that comes against either Usman or Burns, it will be a Pay-Per-View headlining attraction for sure.
