Jorge Masvidal calls for UFC fight against “coward” Colby Covington
UFC welterweight superstar Jorge Masvidal called out top-ranked contender and former roommate Colby Covington for a fight in the Octagon.
Masvidal and Covington used to be friends, but now they are bitter rivals. The two used to train at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida, but Covington left that gym and went to MMA Masters instead. On his way to exiting the gym, Covington verbally went after many of ATT’s top fighters, including Masvidal.
While they were once roommates, they now hate each other. But yet, despite being a matchup featuring bad blood that fans want to see, the UFC has not been able to get the fight done up to this point. That’s despite the previous rumors linking the pair. But it looks like at least one-half of the pair wants the fight now as Masvidal called out Covington on his Twitter.
They gonna call you and hopefully the 4th time is a charm you fucking coward. Don’t pussy out now @ColbyCovMMA

Masvidal and Covington are both free from any other obligations, so the UFC is free to book the fight if both fighters agree to it. At this point, there is no reason the fight can’t get booked other than money being an issue. But considering it hasn’t been booked yet, you can understand why some fans aren’t sure that this fight will actually happen.
Masvidal is coming off of a knockout loss to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and overall he has lost twice to the champion. Covington, meanwhile, is also coming off of a loss to Usman. So it just makes sense from that perspective to get this fight booked, too. There are plenty of reasons for this fight to happen. The fans want it, Masvidal says he wants it, he says the UFC is going to call Covington, and now, let’s hope Covington accepts it, too.
