Jorge Pederson, MMA fighter, killed in shooting at Austin, Texas bar
Jorge Pederson, a rising mixed martial arts fighter from Minnesota on the brink of making his professional debut was one of three people killed in a mass shooting in Austin, Texas early Sunday.
Austin Police announced Pederson died Monday from injuries suffered in the shooting, which also wounded more than a dozen other people.
The 30-year-old Pederson has an amateur MMA record of 4-2 and last fought in December 2025.
The suspect was fatally shot by police, and the FBI and local police have said a motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
Also killed in the shooting were 21-year-old Savitha Shan and 19-year-old Ryder Harrington.
