Jose Aldo responds to Conor McGregor defending his move to bantamweight
When it was announced Jose Aldo would move down in weight many were worried about the Brazilian. Yet, Conor McGregor believed it was a good move for the former featherweight kingpin.
The Irishman took to social media to defend Aldo’s move and saying he is doing the weight cut perfect.
I disagree here. He looks more than on top of it in my experienced opinion. Well trimmed in advance, and naturally a lighter man now. This can only be done over a long length of time and with complete dedication. Respect! I wish him well and am excited to see him in this division

“I disagree here. He looks more than on top of it in my experienced opinion. Well trimmed in advance, and naturally a lighter man now. This can only be done over a long length of time and with complete dedication.” Conor McGregor wrote on Twitter. “Respect! I wish him well and am excited to see him in this division.”
During media day for UFC 245 TSN asked Aldo if he had seen the praise from McGregor and he says those words mean a lot.
“Of course I took it to heart,” said Aldo. “All of the great champions know what type of sacrifice it takes for us to achieve things. The other people, the other fighters, they can only dream of this. So it means a lot to me that it comes from him [Conor McGregor]. He is a champion in two-weight classes. He knows the sacrifices that I’ve had to make and I really take the comment/compliment to heart.”
Jose Aldo is looking to get back into the win column when he takes on Marlon Moraes on the main card of UFC 245. For Aldo, a win could very well earn him a title shot given Moraes is the number one bantamweight. The Brazilian is coming off a loss to Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 237 to snap his two-fight winning streak with stoppage wins over Renato Moicano and Jeremy Stephens.
Only time will tell — as weigh-ins are this afternoon — on if this was a good move for Jose Aldo or not. Regardless, he is thankful for the words Conor McGregor gave him.
