Josh Fremd talks upcoming fight and plans to resign with the UFC

Josh Fremd is riding high after his first career UFC win and now he’s looking to add an important second win at UFC Vegas 78.

In Fremd’s last night, he earned a second round submission win over Sedriques Dumas in which Fremd hurt Dumas on the feet before taking the fight to canvas where he locked in a guillotine choke.

While the win was a milestone victory in Fremd’s career, he didn’t make too big of a deal over the moment as he treated the win like just any other in his career.

For most fighters, the first UFC win is often celebrated heavily and some fighters will say that moment is like having a weight lifting off their shoulders, but Fremd doesn’t have that mentality.

Fremd plays on being the UFC for a long time and making a big in the middleweight division, but in order to have that opportunity, he knows his next fight will have a lot on the line.

Fremd lost his first two UFC fights and his upcoming fight on Aug. 12 will mark the fourth and final fight on his current UFC contract.

In order to be able to resign with the promotion, Fremd knows he needs a win and he’s playing on having his best showing ever at UFC Vegas 78.

The opponent standing in his way will be Jamie Pickett, who is coming off a three straight losses and in his last fight, he was quickly by rising star and former three-time college wrestling national champion Bo Nickal.

Pickett is a veteran of the sport and Fremd is expecting the best version of Pickett, but Fremd believes he is the better fighter and his hard work training at Factory X will be the difference in the fight.

Ahead of the fight, Fremd spoke with MyMMANews about his first career UFC win, his upcoming fight at UFC Vegas 78 and his roots to Pittsburgh, Pa. which includes training at the Matt Factory.
