Josh Parisian discusses his UFC Vegas 29 victory & what’s next for him
Interview with Josh Parisian above
Josh Parisian and Roque Martinez went to war at UFC Vegas 29.
The fight opened with a high paced opening round with Martinez applying a lot of pressure and landing heavy shots. While Parisian had great moments of his own in the first round, Martinez ended up earning the round on the judges scorecards.
In the second round, Parisian really settled into his own. He controlled the whole round and landed several stingy strikes throughout the five minutes. Of course Martinez didn’t go away quietly in that round as he locked in a choke in the final seconds of the round, but Parisian was able to escape.
With the scorecards locked at one heading into the last round, both heavyweights really went after it in the final five minutes and when the final horn sounded both men thought they had done enough to win the fight.
UFC ring announcers Bruce Buffer announced the scorecards and when he said Parisian was the winner by split decision, Parisian threw his hands up in the air and celebrated his hard fought victory.
Following his win, Parisian spoke to MyMMANews and broke down his performance from Saturday. Aside from his fight, he also talked about what’s next for him and a recently bill proposed in his home state of Michigan which would ask police offers to participate in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for self additional self defense training.
