Julio Arce injured, out of UFC 285 fight against Cody Garbrandt
Julio Arce will not be fighting Cody Garbrandt at UFC 285 on March 4.
According to MMA reporter, Marcel Dorff, Arce has suffered an injury and has been forced to pull out of his UFC 285 scrap against Garbrandt. The exact injury Arce sustained is uncertain at this time, as well, it’s uncertain if the UFC will rebook this fight or find a replacement to fight Garbrandt. UFC 284 is set to go down at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane for the heavyweight title as the main event.
Julio Arce (18-6) is coming off a decision loss to Montel Jackson back at UFC 281 and is now 5-4 in the UFC. Arce made his UFC debut back in 2018 at UFC 220 as he stepped up on short notice and beat Dan Ige by decision. The 33-year-old then beat Daniel Teymur before losing to Sheymon Moraes by split decision. Arce then picked up a knockout win over Julian Erosa and then lost a split decision to Hakeem Daw0du.
After the loss to Dawodu, Arce moved down to bantamweight where he is 2-2 at 135lbs with wins over Andre Ewell and Daniel Santos while losing to Jackson and Song Yadong.
Cody Garbrandt (12-5) is on a two-fight losing skid and is 1-5 in his last six fights. Last time out, he suffered a first-round TKO loss to Kai Kara-France in his flyweight debut and prior to that, dropped a decision to Rob Font. His lone win during this skid was a KO victory over Raphael Assuncao while the losing skid started with back-to-back knockout losses to TJ Dillashaw to lose his belt. He then suffered another stoppage loss to Pedro Munhoz before the win over Assuncao.
