In just a few days, Thursday, November 19th, Philadelphia’s own Kaheem “The Dream” Murray looks to seize the biggest opportunity of his young professional MMA career to date at Bellator 253. In a rescheduled bout from March, Murray is set to take on “Baby Slice” Kevin Ferguson Jr., son of the late legendary backyard brawler turned MMA sensation Kimbo Slice.
“He’s a man. I’m a man. Everybody can fall,” says Murray. Clearly unintimidated by his opponents’ name and popularity. “He brings a lot of notoriety,” Murray concedes. “A lot of people know who he is. He’s kind of famous”. Continuing with, “I’m definitely looking to go in there and put on a good show and get a finish!”
This bout was originally slated to take place in March before the worldwide pandemic of Covid-19 that spread like wildfire. Due to the shutdowns that took place across the U.S., Bellator, as well as all professional sports, were also forced to call a halt to the shows and reschedule at a later date. With a firmer grasp of the spread, Bellator, Murray, and Baby Slice finally get back to work.
“I feel just as confident now as I felt back in March,” Murray expresses. Continuing “I feel like I’m a better version of myself (now).” With Murray’s mind seemingly focused fully on his task at hand and fight night rapidly approaching, the city of Philadelphia, Royal Striking, and Murray’s fans wait anxiously to see Kaheem “The Dream” Murray battle “Baby Slice” Kevin Ferguson Jr. under the bright lights of Bellator MMA.
