Ketlen Viera OUT, Yana Kunitskaya will now face Julija Stoliarenko at UFC’s August 8th event..
Ketlen Viera who was set to face Yana Kunitskaya has pulled out their fight due to undisclosed reasons at the moment. Viera 10-1 in MMA was originally expected to face Yana Kunitskaya on August 1st, then was rescheduled to August 8th and now the fight between the pair is not happening at all… MyMMANews was first to report that the fight had been moved from its initial date to August 8. This places the 135ers on the Fight Night card headlined by heavyweights titans Derrick Lewis and Aleksei Olienik.
After a 4-0 start to her UFC career, which included wins over former bantamweight title challengers Sara McMann and Cat Zingano, Vieira (10-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) suffered her first career loss to Irene Aldana in her last outing at UFC 245, where she was finished by a vicious left hook from Aldana. Nonetheless a loss to Aldana is not so bad after all as she is expected to face multiple time title challenger Holly Holm on a UFC Fight Night on October 3rd. Viera was looking to bounce back from her first professional lost in her MMA career, but unfortunately due to undisclosed circumstances she won’t be making the walk that night.
Former Invicta FC bantamweight champ Kunitskaya (12-5-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC). Yana didn’t get the best of luck when she was put up against then UFC featherweight champ Cris Cyborg in her promotional debut in March 2018 but was stopped in the first round, in that fight we saw Cyborg challenged on the ground from Yana when she took her back for a brief second and made Cyborg panic . She has split her first four UFC appearances and is coming off a third-round stoppage loss to Aspen Ladd last December at UFC on ESPN 7: Overeem vs. Rozenstruik. She was poised to face Ketlen Viera at August 8th and now is set to take on Julija Stoliarenko who took the fight on short notice.
Julija Stoliarenko (9-3-1, fighting out of Kaunas, Lithuania) will now meet Yana Kunitskaya on August 8th. Where she will make her debut that night, although she is not a stranger to the UFC as she competed on The Ultimate Fighter Season 28. Stoliarenko made it all the way to the semi finals, where she lost a unanimous decision against none other than one of last week’s stand out Pannie Kianzad. After losing that fight to Pannie she fought in the Finale against Leah Letson, but she lost a split decision that night. Since that night Stoliarenko has gone 5-0 outside of the UFC and finishing four of them all via an armbar. Julija Stoliarenko will now make her return back to the octagon on August 8th where she will stand across the octagon from a former UFC title challenger.
