Kevin Belingon Promises Explosive Fight With Kwon Won II At ONE: WINTER WARRIORS II: ‘Expect Fireworks’
ONE Championship will hold their year-end event with ONE: Winter Warriors II on Friday, December 17. The event from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore, features a fight between former interim bantamweight champion Kevin Belingon and Kwon Won II.
In a transcript provided to MyMMANews.com, Belingon addressed the upcoming fight as well as a variety of other subjects.
Answers from transcript:
On recovering from first career KO from John Lineker:
All is going well. I’m ready for December, I’ve prepared well. My confidence is unshaken. I feel even after that loss the confidence in myself remains strong. I felt like I wasn’t the one who was fighting Lineker, I felt like I lost focus on that match. I’ll treat that as a lesson. After that fight I rested up for a bit then went to the gym to work. I’ve been waiting for this match for a long time and we’re finally here. My confidence never changed.
On how things changed after the loss:
I feel like I’m a lot stronger honestly. I’m only hungrier and more determined to bounce back after those losses. I’m still motivated. The fire is still there so you can just wait this December to see how much I’ve improved from that fight
On who is better, him or Kwon Won Il:
I think I have more weapons than him. I don’t want to belittle Kwon Won Il because he has good hands, great boxing but I think I have a lot more in my arsenal. I believe my striking is better but I have to take note of his punches. We have a game plan prepared for him.
If Kwon Won Il has heavy hands, I have my spinning back fist to answer that. I’m sure this match will be explosive on the feet but don’t be surprised if I take this match to the ground.
On if a submission is a possibility:
Yeah, that’s also one of my goals. If I can win by submission, why not right? I don’t think I have a submission win in ONE ever, so if that opportunity comes then I’ll be going for it. If I pull it off, it will be historic for me because it’s my first submission win in ONE.
On if his back is up against the wall:
Yeah. This is such an important bout for me. I’ve been losing, I haven’t been performing to my standard so I really have to get back to my old self and return to the winning column. My eyes have always been on a World Title shot and if I lose here I know I will be farther and farther from that. That’s why this is important. I want another run
