Kevin Holland out of Kyle Daukaus rematch at UFC Vegas 42 due to injury
While it appeared Kevin Holland and Kyle Daukaus would quickly turn around and have a rematch from their first meeting, that has been put on hold for now. Nolan King of MMA Junkie was first to report that due to an undisclosed injury, Holland is out of his upcoming scheduled fight against Daukaus that had been set for November 13. The injury has been confirmed by Holland’s management at KO Reps.
King’s report notes that the expectation is that Daukaus will remain on the card and the UFC, which has not formally announced a change, will seek a replacement for Kevin Holland.
Earlier this month, Holland and Daukaus fought to a no-contest after an accidental headbutt brought an unfortunate end to their exciting matchup. After suffering back-to-back losses to middleweight contenders Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori, Holland was looking to get back in the win column in his fight against Daukaus, but that will all be on hold for now.
Kyle Daukaus was also looking to get back into the win column after his most recent loss came to Phil Hawes back in May earlier this year.
Both Kevin Holland and Daukaus are two of the most exciting young fighters in the middleweight division, and while fans were certainly looking forward to the rematch, it’ll have to be put on hold. Here’s hoping the two can likely meet at some point sooner than later in 2022.
While awaiting word on a potential replacement for Daukaus, here is how the UFC Vegas 42 fight card looks for November 13.
