Kevin Lee tears right ACL while going through rehab for left ACL tear
Kevin Lee has had a rough go in 2020, and now he’ll be on the shelf for an even longer time than originally thought. The last time Lee was in the Octagon, he suffered a loss to Charles Oliveira back in March and then in April, it was announced that Lee would miss approximately six months after he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee.
The bad news hit again for Lee this week, on Wednesday he took to Instagram to announce that while he was rehabbing the injury in his left knee, he tore the ACL in his right knee as well.

“Okay so update, I’m leaving the hospital, I had to get ACL surgery on my other leg. I hurt it while trying to recover from this one [left knee]. Honestly, I’m not that discouraged about it. I feel like I’ve been on this path for a long ass time, last 10 years, and I seen all this sh*t happening. I didn’t know how it was going to happen, but it was for sure going to happen. I guess God just wanted me to have two strong knees. So when I come back, I’m going to f**k somebody up, I feel like I’m on the right path. I’m straight for anybody who was concerned or wondering, I just gotta go back through the basics again.”
Lee has competed in both the UFC’s lightweight and welterweight divisions, with his only fight at 170-pounds coming against former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. Back in 2017, Lee faced Tony Ferguson for a chance at the interim lightweight title, but suffered a third-round submission loss. Following his loss to dos Anjos, Lee moved his training camp to Tristar Gym in Montreal, home of the legendary Georges St-Pierre and coach Firas Zahabi.
In his first fight with the Tristar team, Lee had an incredible head-kick KO against the previously undefeated Gregor Gillespie, and then suffered his loss to Oliveira this past March. Now having to rehab from two ACL surgeries, there’s no timetable for Kevin Lee to return, but he seems to be keeping his spirits high regardless of the recent news.
