Khabib Nurmagomedov on Conor McGregor: “I will destroy him”
The rivarly between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor has escalated to epic proportions, including the infamous tirade McGregor and his cronies went on at the UFC 223 Media Day when the Irishman tossed a giant dolly through the window of bus carrying participants of the UFC 223 fight card, injuring two fighters from the card in the process. Among the fighters on the bus ironically was Nurmagomedov and his team.
The retalition by McGregor was due to an altercation prior to the UFC 223 bedlam involving members of Nurmagomedov’s team and McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov.
As result of McGregor’s actions, he was charged with 1 count of felony mischief and 3 misdemeanor counts of assault.
Now McGregor prepares for a reappearance in court on July 26 as he enters a plea from the events that happened back in April.
Despite this happening to McGregor, there is still a real possibility of a fight being made between him and Nurmagomedov should his court hearing turn out in his favor.
The reigning UFC lightweight champion Nurmagomedov spoke with Sport24.ru and promised he would destroy McGregor when they do initially fight, he just doesn’t know which round that will occur.
“In what round will I be able to knock McGregor out?” Nurmagomedov asked. “I do not know, and no one can know this. I’m going to destroy him.”
Given the distinction between the two combatants, both in their fighting skills and personalities, this sets up what could be one of the better feuds in MMA’s history if the fight is indeed made, and from the way things are looking right now, it seems the lightweight mega fight might actually happen. Nurmagomedov remains tempered with expectations knowing that the fight is far from definite.
“I do not yet know who my opponent will be,” Nurmagomedov said. “The fight will likely take place in Las Vegas. I want to fight McGregor; the fans are also waiting for this fight. I hope that Conor wants this fight. He talked a lot but for some reason, as soon as it came down to real negotiations about the fight, he fell silent.”
Do you believe a fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor will happen?
