KSW 96 Results – Pawlak vs. Janikowski 2
The summer hits continue for KSW with KSW 96 set for Saturday, July 20, 2024, inside the Sport Arena in Lódz, Poland. The main event will feature a middleweight title showdown with champion Pawel Pawlak defending his title against former Olympic medalist Damian Janikowski. The co-main event will feature two strawweights as Ewelina Wozniak of Poland battles Brazil’s Maria Silva. Also on the card is lightweight rising star Bartlomiej Kopera who is making his return to the KSW cage reborn.
Main Event- Pawel Pawlak (23-4-1) vs. Damian Janikowski (10-5)
A perfect 5-0 since entering KSW, the champion Pawlak will look to make his second successful title defense Saturday. Unbeaten since 2019, Pawlak typically takes his opponent into deep waters and earns a controlling decision win. Two of his last three wins have come by knockout though.
The challenger, former Olympic bronze medalist, Janikowski will look for his 10th KSW victory when he battles for middleweight gold on Saturday. With six of his nine KSW wins coming by a finish, Janikowski has shown he has the ability to earn the finish under the big lights of KSW. Now with 15 fights under his belt, it might just be time for Janikowski to trade in his bronze medal for a gold belt.
Co-Main Event- Ewelina Wozniak (8-2) vs. Maria Silva (10-1)
Ewelina Wozniak will have the home crowd behind her as she steps in the KSW cage for the night’s co-main event. With an impressive reverse triangle choke win in her KSW debut, Wozniak looks to continue that momentum against Silva, who is 10-1 in her career. Wozniak has proven to be a dangerous finisher with six of her eight wins coming by a finish, four by submission. Silva is just as dangerous, currently 2-0 in KSW with seven finishes in her own right. This matchup could very well tell us who is the best strawweight in KSW.
Other Fighters to Watch
Bartlomiej Kopera will also appear on this stacked card. He is scheduled to face the equally dangerous Dawid Smielowski. Kopera looks to be reborn in his MMA life after his struggles in his first KSW tenure going 4-0 since then. Kopera will look to give Smielowski fits on the mat with eight of his career wins coming by a submission. Smielowski will look to rebound from a first-round loss at KSW 86 in his last outing and use his range and striking.
