Holobaugh, a Titan FC veteran, earned a UFC contract on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series when he knocked out Matt Bessette. The fight was eventually overturned to a no-contest after Holobaugh did not notify the athletic commission that he used an IV containing 2,000 milliliters of fluid after the event’s weigh-in.
Ultimately, Holobaugh would go on to fight in the UFC, but lost all three fights on his contract.
He then picked up a handful of wins before being invited to compete on TUF 31 where he would be coached by Michael Chandler alongside a team of UFC veterans.
While in the house, Holobaugh would win two fights, setting up the finale bout against Hubbard.
