Kyle Daukaus vs. Roman Dolidze scratched from UFC Vegas 42 card
An intriguing middleweight bout between Kyle Daukaus and Roman Dolidze has been scratched from this Saturday’s UFC Vegas 42 card.
Daukaus vs. Dolidze was set to take place on the UFC Vegas 42 main card, but the fight is now off due to COVID-19 protocols. According to a report from MMAFighting.com, it is a COVID-19 issue in Dolidze’s camp that forced the fight to be scrapped. With the event just three days away, the UFC matchmakers were unable to locate a replacement opponent on such extremely short notice, and Daukaus will no longer remain on the card. It is unknown at this point if the UFC will re-book this matchup for a future fight card or if the UFC will try to give both fighters different opponents instead.
It’s worth noting that Daukaus was originally set to fight Kevin Holland on this card in a rematch after their first fight ended in a controversial No Contest just last month. With Holland off the card due to an injury, the UFC put Dolidze into the position of fighting Daukaus. The promotion then pulled Eryk Anders from his fight with Dolidze and matched him up against Andre Muniz at UFC 269. But now, it looks like Dauakus is the odd man out as he’s the one left without a fight. Dolidze, too, does not have a fight booked, though it was an issue in his camp that caused him to be pulled. For Dauakus, though, you have to feel bad for him after having another fight ripped apart.
We shall soon find out what the UFC’s plan for Kyle Daukaus is going forward. He is an excellent middleweight fighter and Dolidze would have been a good test for him. It’s disappointing the fight is off now, but hopefully, the other 11 fights scheduled for UFC Vegas 42 will stay intact.
