Lilian Garcia is all smiles ahead of the start of the upcoming PFL season on Wednesday and for good reason.
For starters, the promotion just signed some new talent as part of a contender series in which celebrity judges picked fighters that would earn a contract with the PFL.
Then there was a huge free agency signing with Jeremy Stephens coming over to the PFL after years of fighting in the UFC.
Finally, who could forget the resigning of Kayla Harrison.
After Harrison won another PFL lightweight title last season, the Olympic gold medalist hit free agency and met with a number of promotions and had several back-and-forth social media exchanges with Bellator featherweight champ Cris Cyborg.
Despite all the rumors, speculation and offers from other promotions, Harrison made the decision to once again sign with the PFL and will once again will be a huge favorite to win the lightweight title.
All of that will mix in with all the great fighters on the roster and coming off a great year in 2021, Garcia cannot wait to see how this season will play out. She is also looking forward to seeing fans back inside the arena after a season where fans weren’t in attendance due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Prior to the start of the season, Garcia spoke with MyMMANews to discuss the upcoming season, Harrison’s decision to resign with the PFL and evolution of the promotion over the last few years.
Aside from talking about the PFL season, she also discussed some WWE topics as prior to joining the PFL, Garcia was the long time WWE ring announcer. In particular, she talked about the WWE’s ability to adapt over time, the rise of Becky Lynch and bringing Harrison back stage to an event.
In addition to the PFL and the WWE, Garcia also spoke about her music career, which has had a new and exciting turn of events.
