Linton Vassell believes trilogy fight against Valentin Moldavsky at PFL 4 is happening at perfect time

Making his PFL promotional debut earlier this year, Linton Vassell prepared to make a major statement coming into the Heavyweight tournament. Things did not go according to plan for “The Big Swarm” in his first PFL fight, as he suffered a third-round loss to Denis Goltsov in the first round.

Entering the second round of the tournament at PFL 4, needing points to push his way into the Playoffs, Vassell will face Valentin Moldavsky in a trilogy fight between the two, with everything on the line for the 2024 season. Moldavsky, who has six points in the standings due to his first-round finish over Ante Delija, will have the chance to close the chapter against Vassell and secure his spot in the playoffs.

Speaking to the media ahead of Thursday night’s main event, Vassell explained why this fight is happening at the perfect time in his mind, and how the circumstances surrounding the fight makes it all perfect. On top of that, the faith the organization is showing in him to slot this fight as the main event shows they have plenty of interest in the futures of both fighters.

“That means a lot to be honest. Obviously my first fight for PFL didn’t go to plan, so I think this is the perfect fight to give me that mindset and that push coming back to the cage and putting up a dominant performance. I’m proud and I’m happy that PFL made this fight cause it had to happen at some point, sooner rather than later if you ask me.”

With plenty at stake in this fight, Linton Vassell said that not only does he want to right the wrong from his first fight this year, but he also wants to make a playoff push, and show he’s the better fighter between the two of them.

“I obviously want to prove I’m the better fighter. We’re one a piece now, I got the last win so obviously I got that on my shoulders to come back and do exactly what I did before. Then obviously I’ve got to prove to the PFL that don’t know me to show them who I am and I need to get some points. I want that million dollars, so I’ll get some points. I have a big point to prove.”

The trilogy will go down on Thursday, June 13 in the PFL 4 main event for the second round of the 2024 women’s flyweight and men’s heavyweight season. The action can be seen on ESPN+ starting at 5:30 ET, live from the Mohegan Sun Arena.
