Lito Adiwang out for 1-year with ACL tear – “I’ll be back”
Filipino strawweight competitor Lito Adiwang suffered an unfortunate injury in his last outing ONE Championship, one that will sideline the fighter for at least a year.
“Thunder Kid” Adiwang took on Jeremy Miado at the promotion’s 10-year anniversary card ONE: X in March when the injury occurred.
Adiwang injured his right knee while stepping backward in the second round, allowing Miado to pounce and earn the TKO victory. The 29-year-old fighter confirmed it was an ACL tear that would require surgery.
“As per the doctor’s advice, a complete recovery will [take] one year,” Adiwang told ONE Championship officials. “On a positive note, I still think it depends on how my body will heal. There’s a chance that I can recover faster. I’m doing it slowly but surely so when we return, we won’t face any complications. That’s what I see here – the importance of taking care of my body. I’ll be back.”

“The surgery happened three weeks ago. Now I’m going through therapy. I’m going through several programs now,” Adiwang said.
