Livinha Souza considering retirement following lopsided loss to Randa Markos at UFC Vegas 41

UFC women’s strawweight Livinha Souza says she is considering retirement following her lopsided loss to Randa Markos at UFC Vegas 41.

Souza is the former Invicta FC women’s strawweight champion and she first joined the UFC in 2018. After beating Alex Chambers and Sarah Frota in her first two UFC fights, she then dropped a decision to Brianna Van Buren. She bounced back with a decision win over Ashley Yoder, but since then, Souza is winless with a knockout loss to Amanda Lemos, and then this decision loss to Markos at UFC Vegas 41. It was a fight where Souza was favored by the sportsbooks to get the win, but ultimately she just did not have the wrestling skills in order to deal with Markos’ heavy top control.

Although Souza is 3-3 in the UFC, she was so upset by her performance against Markos that she is now considering hanging up her gloves and retiring from MMA. Taking to her social media following the loss to Markos, Souza admitted that she had a poor performance and said her future is uncertain.

Well guys, as I said it was my worst performance ever, it was very disappointing, I never imagined losing so many fights and not doing well, thank you for everyone’s support, I’ll rethink a lot to resume the sport stronger or think about new ones horizons

Despite the loss to Markos, Souza is still under UFC contract, so the promotion could still offer her another fight. However, if she decides that MMA is no longer her calling and decides to retire instead, that obviously won’t be the case. It will be interesting to see what decision Souza finally reaches, but whatever the decision is, hopefully, she is doing what is best for her own career.

Do you think Livinha Souza should hang up her gloves or should she keep competing in MMA?
