Luke Rockhold Eyes Summer Return Against Paulo Costa
Coming off of a back injury, Luke Rockhold is starting to look at what fight makes sense for his return to the octagon.
Recently he has been very keen on one top 5 middleweight in specific, Paulo Costa. It is quite clear that Rockhold is not a fan of the Brazilian, calling him a cheater for missing weight in an interview on Submission Radio. In that same interview, Rockhold also claimed that Costa is “weak-minded,” and “doesn’t respect the sport.”
For someone that Rockhold obviously does not like, he does seem to be motivated to face Costa for his return. Stating that he wants to correct Costas’s disrespect for the sport and “show him the door.”
Rockhold who was supposed to return last November at UFC 268 to face Sean Strickland had to delay his return due to a herniated disc. Following his recovery, he has begun training again this week and is eyeing June for his comeback. The former middleweight champion is on a two-fight losing skid, being finished by light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz in 2019 and Yoel Romero in 2018.
Costa is also coming off of a two-fight losing skid with a unanimous decision loss to Marvin Vettori back in October and a knockout loss to middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in 2020.
With both men not only looking to get back in the win column but also looking to make their way back into title contention, a summer match-up between these two top middleweights would be something you will not want to miss.
