M-1 Challenge 49 Draws 23,000 Live Gate
Russia’s number one mixed martial arts organization M-1 went outdoors, in the mountains. And it looked awesome.
The event was held in the North Caucases region approximately 10,000 feet in elevation, up in the mountains in Igusheta, Russia.
The card had some notable fighters involved. Fedor Emelianenko is an investor in M-1 challenge. UFC competitor and number four-ranked Khabib Nurmagomedov was also in attendance, cornering one of his friends competing on the card.
M1’s previous attendance record was approximately 22,000 in an indoor stadium in Moscow, Russia. On average, the live gate is between 12,000-18,000.
M1 founder and manager to Fedor Emelianenko, Vadim Finkelstein, posted the following on instagram:
