Mackenzie Dern takes out Randa Markos with ease, scores first round armbar
The second series of UFC Apex events comes to an end with UFC on ESPN+ 36 tonight, Saturday, Sept. 19.
Headlining the event is a welterweight grudge match between Colby Covington and former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in Las Vegas, Nevada. Welterweights Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Niko Price will throw down in the co-main event.
In a women’s strawweight bout, Mackenzie Dern faces off against Randa Markos in what’s expected to be an action-packed scrap.
Dern, although known for her elite grappling prowess, has made it known she plans to utilize pressure on the feet to highlight her improvements. Dern took out her last opponent, Hannah Cifers via first-round kneebar in May. Tonight, she looks to get another win under her belt and back on a win streak.
Randa Markos is entering this bout after suffering a defeat to Amanda Rivas…The only person to put an L on Dern’s resume. Markos, although more experienced in the sport, comes into this bout as the underdog. With the odds stacked against her and her back against the fence, tonight maybe Markos’ chance to get back in the win column.
