Mads Burnell vs. Saul Rogers targeted for Bellator 255 on April 2
Former Cage Warriors champ Mads Burnell (14-3) and TUF 22 standout Saul Rogers (14-3) is being targeted for April 2, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. and airs on Showtime.
MMA Junkie reporter Nolan King was first to report the Featherweight matchup being targeted between the pair of Europeans.
Burnell (14-3 MMA, 1-0 BMMA), recently signed for the promotion and made his debut against Darko Banović at Bellator 248 – that nigh he earned the stoppage win in the first round. Before that, the 26-year old from Copenhagen, Denmark fought three times inside the UFC, holding a 1-2 record prior to his release. Since his departure from the UFC in 2018, Burnell soon went back on track after has won fought straight, claiming the Cage Warriors featherweight championship in the process.
Rogers (14-3 MMA, 2-1 BMMA), the last time fans saw the Bellator featherweight, it was a bounce back win against Arbi Mezhidov when he defeated the Austrian via first round rare naked choke at the Bellator Paris event last year. The Brit also competed in the opening round of the promotion’s featherweight grand prix – which is set to headline the event. Rogers fell to Daniel Weichel in the tournament.
