Man pays $95,000 to watch Charles Oliveira train for next UFC fight

I like fights just as much as the next guy but I’m not paying $95,000 to watch a fighter train for a UFC fight. Roman Shpigel, a Russian businessman won the bid at the annual Instituto Projeto Neymar auction in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Monday night.

His prize?

Shpigel gets to watch former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira train at Chute Boxe Diego Lima, and then fly to wherever his UFC next fight takes place. As of press time, the UFC has not announced an opponent or date for Oliveira’s next fight.

The package also includes being with Oliveira as he cuts weight, then join the team for the post-weigh-ins day, as well as two tickets for the fight.

According to a report from MMA Fighting, “this year’s auction broke last year’s fundraising records by totaling $5.1 million. Neymar’s institute supports around 3,000 kids and teenagers from Jardim Gloria, Praia Grande. Neymar, who currently plays for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia and was the No. 7 highest-paid athlete of 2024 according to Forbes with $108 million earnings, announced an additional $5.1 million donation to Rio Grande do Sul, the Brazilian state recently affected by floods.”

Additionally, Shpigel won two other auctions, so at least his money is being put to good use.
