Originally, Manny Pacquiao was supposed to fight Errol Spence but Spence was forced out of the fight with a broken orbital. In stepped Ugas on two weeks notice. The fight sees the 62-7-2 Pacquiao take on the large 26-4 Ugas. There is much speculation about this potentially being the swan song for the Pilipino legend, Pacquiao. At 42, 43 in December, Pacquiao has a lot on his plate with the upcoming political season in the Philippines. He’s never one to shy away for a fight and made sure to make this card happen for his fans at home and abroad.
Yordenis Ugas is here to play spoiler, however. He’s won three straight since losing a razor thin decision to Shawn Porter in February 2019. Since then, he beat Omar Figueroa Jr. via diecision, Mike Dallas Jr. by retirement, and Abel Ramos by split decision. Pacquiao is a notable step up for Ugas in skills since Porter and the biggest star he’s fought his entire career. This is an incredible opportunity for Ugas to show up and show out.
