Manon Fiorot

Manon Fiorot interested in fighting Alexa Grasso for No. 1 contender’s bout

UFC women’s flyweight contender Manon Fiorot says she is interested in fighting Alexa Grasso next for a No. 1 contender’s bout at 125lbs.

Fiorot defeated Katlyn Chookagian on the UFC 280 main card, and she is now the No. 1 contender in the UFC flyweight division. Naturally, that’s why some fans and media are now suggesting a title fight against UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko. However, if you ask Fiorot, she wants one more fight first.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani on MMAFighting.com’s The MMA Hour, Fiorot said that she wants to fight Grasso next in what would be a No. 1 contender’s bout at 125lbs, with the winner earning a title shot against Shevchenko.

“Let me tell you, I never say no when the UFC team asks about an opponent. Never. Two days before the fight, I never say no. I agree, I think (fighting Grasso) is a good choice. Alexa, call us. She talked about the fight, she called for the winner of me and Katelyn, so I have to say yes. For sure I’d do this. I think she’s a good striker, and it’s a good fight for the fans and the division,” Fiorot said.

According to the official UFC rankings, Fiorot is the No. 1 contender right now at 125lbs, while Grasso is ranked No. 5. However, Fiorot is just 5-0 in the UFC, and she believes that more experience would be a good thing before she fights for a title. That’s not a bad thing, especially since Shevchenko could run it back with Taila Santos, who gave her a run for her money earlier this year at UFC 275. But if the UFC does match up Fiorot and Grasso, and if Fiorot wins that fight, then it seems quite clear that her next fight after that would be for the championship.

Do you want to see Manon Fiorot fight Alexa Grasso next, and who do you think would win this fight?
