Manon Fiorot wants title shot with win over Rose Namajunas at UFC Paris
UFC women’s flyweight contender Manon Fiorot says she wants a title shot at 125 lbs with a win over Rose Namajunas at UFC Paris.
Fiorot is one of the best fighters in the UFC women’s flyweight division as she holds a perfect 5-0 record in the Octagon. If she is able to defeat Namajunas this weekend at UFC Paris, it would give Fiorot a 6-0 record in the Octagon, with a win over a former champion. And if that happens, then she wants a title shot.
Speaking to the media ahead of UFC Paris, Fiorot said that she deserves the next title shot at 125 lbs ahead of Erin Blanchfield, who is 6-0 with a recent victory over former title challenger Taila Santos. As long as Fiorot puts on a good performance, then she believes she should be next in line for a title shot at 125 lbs.
“I’m 100 percent sure that if I put on a good performance in this fight, considering the performance we’ve seen from Santos and Blanchfield, I’m going to be fighting for the belt. I’m 100 percent convinced by that,” Fiorot said (via MMAjunkie.com). “I wasn’t impressed at all, actually, because until this point, she never really fought against an opponent at a high level. I think this fight showed her real level, and so I wasn’t really that impressed, no.”
Fiorot has looked great in the UFC so far, but so has Blanchfield, making it a difficult decision for the UFC to decide who should fight for the title next. It will likely depend on how impressive her win over Namajunas is, should she get her hand raised. If that happens, then a title shot could very well be hers.
Do you agree with Manon Fiorot that she should get a title shot at 125 lbs with a win over Rose Namajunas at UFC Paris?
