Marcus Buchecha – “I’ve become an MMA Fighter”
Last year, ONE Championship officials announced the signing of two-time ADCC champion and 13-time Jiu Jitsu World Champion Marcus Almeida, also known as Buchecha.
The famed grappler successfully transitioned to mixed martial arts and became an MMA fighter, having gone 2-0, with two first round submission victories in 2021.
Buchecha now makes his third walk to the ONE circle this Friday when he meets Simon Carson (2-1) at ONE: 158 in Singapore.
“I’m ready to fight for 15 minutes,” Buchecha said of the pending contest. “Striking if I have to, grappling if I have to… I’m training a lot, I’m not training just grappling. I’m not just training jiu-jitsu. I’m training MMA, I’ve become an MMA Fighter.”
