Marian Ziolkowski retains title in KSW 66 main event
KSW 66 took place Saturday evening, January 15, from Szczecin, Poland. It marked the first event of 2022 and kicked-off a year set to be the biggest in company history.
In the main event, lightweight champion Marian Ziolkowski (24-8-1) successfully defended his title against former welterweight champion Borys Mankowski (22-9-1). Ziolkowski came back from two rounds down to score a unanimous 48-47 decision on all judges’ scorecards.
Russia’s Ibragim Chuzhigaev (16-5) shocked everyone to became the new KSW light heavyweight champ, ending the six-year run of Tomasz Narkun (18-5). It was a back and forth war that went the distance. However, it was Chuzhigaev who was awarded the decision and had gold wrapped around his waist.
Elsewhere on the card, former middleweight champion Michal Materla (31-8) KO’d Jason Radcliffe (17-9) with a vintage overhand right, Belgium’s Donovan Desmae (15-7) secured his first win in the promotion with a slick submission win over Lukasz Rajewski (11-7), heavy hitter Gracjan Szadzinski (9-4) scored another knockout victory, and Sebastian Rajewski (12-6) spoiled Sweden’s Niklas Backstrom’s (11-4) MMA return.
