Marion Reneau out, Sijara Eubanks makes quick turnaround to meet Ketlen Vieira at UFC 253 on Sept. 26
Sijara Eubanks is making a quick turnaround as she replaced Marion Reneau in women’s bantamweight matchup against Ketlen Vieira at UFC 253 on Sept. 26.
Reneau withdrew from the bout after suffering an undisclosed injury. Eubanks takes the fight just four days after upsetting Julia Avila via unanimous decisions at UFC on ESPN+ 35 this past Saturday, Sept. 12.
First reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Eubanks and Vieira will meet on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi.
Eubanks is on a two-fight win streak, going unbeaten in 2020. She started the new-year campaign back in May, earning a unanimous-decision nod against Sarah Moras at UFC on ESPN+ 29.
She made the move to the UFC’s 135-pound division back in may 2019, suffering back-to-back defeats to Aspen Ladd and Beth Correia.
Vieira is having a tough time finding a fight in 2020. She was scheduled three previous times in 2020 with all of the bouts falling through.
She is coming off her first-career defeat after losing by first-round knockout to Irene Aldana at UFC 245 this past December. Vieira is 4-1 inside the octagon since making her promotion debut back in October 2016. She holds wins over Kelly Faszholz, Ashlee Evans-Smith, Sara McMann and Cat Zingano.
Reneau is currently on a three-fight skid, most recently dropping a split-decision loss to Raquel Pennington at UFC on ESPN 11 on June 20.
