Marlon “Chito” Vera vs. Davey Grant added to UFC Fight Night card on June 19
According to a report from MMA DNA, which MMAJunkie later confirmed, a bantamweight rematch between Marlon “Chito” Vera and Davey Grant has been added to a UFC Fight Night card set for June 19.
Vera and Grant met for the first time in February 2016 when Grant scored a unanimous decision victory over Vera at UFC Fight Night 84.
Most recently, the 28-year-old Vera, who’s currently ranked No. 15 in the UFC’s bantamweight division, suffered a unanimous decision defeat to former longtime featherweight champion Jose Aldo this past December. Before that, he had bounced back from a decision defeat to Song Yadong with a first-round TKO victory over Sean O’Malley in the co-main event of UFC 252 last August in Las Vegas.
The upcoming fight against Grant will mark Vera’s first Octagon appearance in 2021.
Grant, meanwhile, is riding a wave of momentum, as he’s won three consecutive fights dating back to 2019. During that streak, he defeated Grigorii Popov by split-decision before scoring back-to-back knockout victories over Martin Day and Jonathan Martinez.
The 35-year-old hasn’t always been the most active since appearing on season 18 of “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2013, but after just stopping Martinez in March, it appears as if he’s looking to fight more often and make a splash at 135 pounds.
The UFC Fight Night card on June 19 is currently set to be headlined by a featherweight bout between former title challenger Chan Sung Jung and contender Dan Ige.
