Martin Sano Jr. congratulates Matthew Semelsberger on KO win but says ‘our paths will cross again’
Martin Sano Jr.’s UFC debut couldn’t have gone any worse.
Sano Jr.’s a protege of Nick Diaz, was fighting for the first time since 2017 against Matthew Semelsberger on the early prelims of UFC 266. Unfortnately for Sano Jr., he left his chin up in the air and Semelsberger capitalized as he dropped and then landed one follow-up shot that put Sano Jr. out as Semelsberger got the 15-second KO win.
Now, following the loss, Sano Jr. took to Instagram to release a statement on the fight where he says he and Semelsberger will fight again.
His message
“Thanks to God for getting me through the toughest fight of my life, I am ok made major mistake payed the price but I learned I want to… @dcblackkobra and & @jakeshields for stepping up and having my back as well real ones right there to have in your corner. thank you for all the services for this camp also amazing Dr’s. With the loss, Martin Sano Jr. is now 4-3-1 and just 0-3-1 in his last four fights. His last win came back in 2014 where he submitted Clint Roberts. In his career, however, he does hold a win over ranked UFC welterweight, Geoff Neal. Whether or not Sano Jr. gets another fight in the UFC is to be seen.
