Mason Hibbs, MMA fighter, allegedly pulls gun on mom over restaurant tab
Mason Hibbs, a 23-year-old amateur mixed martial artist, has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Simple Assault after allegedly pulling a gun on his own mother.
The MMA fighter with a record of 2-7 allegedly pulled a gun out on his mom and beat up her boyfriend after being asked to pay his tab at an East Memphis, Tennessee restaurant on his birthday, according to Memphis Police.
According to police, surveillance video from the July 9 incident at TJ Mulligans bar confirmed Hibbs was the primary aggressor.
The woman told police she walked to the parking lot to ask her son, Hibbs, who was sitting in his car, to pay his tab. During their talk, Hibbs reportedly pulled a handgun out of his backpack and said, “Do you want me to get out with this?”
The woman said she was in fear of being hurt or killed.
According to police, the woman’s boyfriend confronted Hibbs, resulting in a fight. The boyfriend had bruising and swelling under his eyes and a bloody nose and lip. Police later recovered a 9mm from the scene.
According to Tapology, Mason Hibbs is still scheduled to fight at Attitude 31 in West Memphis, Arkansas on Saturday, August 10 against flyweight Scott Calvert.
