Uriah Hall lands ground and pound on Anderson Silva in the fourth round at UFC Vegas 12.

Matchmaker Monday following UFC Vegas 12

UFC Vegas 12 was an historical night for the UFC as Anderson Silva fought in his final fight within the promotion. Unfortunately for Silva, he leaves the UFC with a loss in his final outing as Uriah Hall was too much for “The Spider.”

Now that the event is over let’s find out what’s next for the main event fighters on this Matchmaker Monday.

Uriah Hall
Result: defeated Anderson Silva by fourth round TKO at UFC Vegas 12

Hall wins again. The win on Saturday night puts him on a three-fight winning streak.

While that is impressive, I don’t think a win over a 45-year-old fighter who was way past their prime puts him in a fantastic position. So with that being said, I believe a fight with Kelvin Gastelum is next for Hall.

Gastelum has now lost three in a row and has dropped to No. 8 in the official UFC rankings. Hall is currently ranked at number 10. It’ll be a battle between two guys close by to one another in the rankings and a win would be huge for both fighters.

Anderson Silva
Result: lost to Uriah Hall by fourth round TKO at UFC Vegas 12
Next: retirement

Silva is a legend. No questions need to ask and no debate is needed. He’ll be in the UFC Hall of Fame one day and for good reason.

At the same time we have to face reality. He’s no longer the dominant champion he once was. Right now the facts are he’s 45-years-old, his last win came in came in 2017 in a fight that he’s lucky the judges scored in his favor, and in his past nine fights he’s posted a record of 1-7,1 NC.

UFC president Dana White said that Silva will never fight again in the UFC and he regrets letting him fight on Saturday.

Silva hasn’t said whether he’ll retire or whether he’ll fight elsewhere. I think it’s time for Silva to hang it up.
