Matt Brown floors Court McGee with nasty right hand in opening round at UFC on ABC 4

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to us today, May 13, 2023, for UFC on ABC 4, going down live from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Headlining the event is a clash of heavyweight contenders as no. 9 ranked kickboxing champion Jairzinho Rozenstruik (13-4) faces off with no. 12 ranked BJJ phenom Jailton Almeida (18-2) in the main event of the evening.

Co-headlining the event is a light-heavyweight affair between no. 5 ranked former title challenger Anthony Smith (36-17) and no. 7 ranked fellow finisher Johnny Walker (20-7).

Headlining the preliminary card today was a welterweight showdown between The Ultimate Fighter 7 alum Matt Brown (24-19) and The Ultimate Fighter 11 winner Court McGee (21-12).

Brown came into the bout having gone 3-2 over his latest five appearances, while McGee came in having gone 2-1 over his last three.

Official Result: Matt Brown def. Court McGee via KO (punch) at 4:09 of round one

McGee secures a takedown about one minute into round one and works on taking Brown’s back. He sinks one hook in, but is unable to secure the second and Brown works his way back up to his feet.

Brown gets to work once they’re back to striking range.

Toward the end of the opening round, McGee comes into Brown’s range and gets floored with a nasty right hand that KO’s him on the spot.
