Matt Frevola floors Drew Dober, continues first-round knockout streak at UFC 288
The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to us tonight, May 6, 2023, for UFC 288, going down live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Headlining the event is the return of former UFC flyweight & bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo (16-2), who makes his first appearance in three years in attempt to reclaim his throne against current champion Aljamain Sterling (22-3).
Co-headlining the event is a five-round welterweight affair between no. 4 ranked Belal Muhammad (22-3, 1 NC) and no. 5 ranked former title challenger Gilbert Burns (22-5).
Headlining our preliminary card tonight was a lightweight showcase between Drew Dober (26-12, 1 NC) and Matt Frevola (11-3-1). Dober came into the bout on a three-fight win streak, while Frevola came in having won his last two-straight, all five combined victories of which came via knockout.

Official Result: Matt Frevola def. Drew Dober via TKO (punches) at 4:08 of round one
Frevola lands two hard right hands within the first minute of the bout, though Dober eats them well and settles in with his own attack. Dober starts to back Frevola up with his combinations and lands a nice left hand to the body that gets a grimace out of him.
In the middle of an exchange, Frevola cracks Dober with another hard right hand that drops him, and some ground-and-pound later the fight was stopped.
