Matt Lozano collides with Rico DiSciullo at CES 43
Rico DiSciullo and Matt “SMG” Lozano will collide at CES 43 on April 15 at the historic North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Massachusetts.
Fighting out of Team Sityodtong Boston, DiSciullo returns to the CES MMA cage for the sixth time, more determined than ever to rebound from his first professional loss.
Lozano (8-4), meanwhile, fights in the CES cage for the second time, after a dominant win at CES 34. He is coming off an interim flyweight title fight for Cage Fury Fighting Championships in December.
It was Lozano’s first loss since coming back from a broken arm TKO loss at World Series of Fighting 13 in September 2014. Lozano is the current World Cagefighting Championship’s flyweight title holder as well.
DiSciullo says he’s learning from his first pro loss and is using it as motivation to get back in the cage. Therefore, CES 43 in Beverly, can’t come soon enough for the Peabody-born, Boston-bred fighter.
“I’m just hungry to get back in there,” DiSciullo said. “I beat myself in my last fight, after having a great training camp. Now I’m just excited to get back in there, do the damn thing, and showcase all the things I’ve been working on. This is going to be a really fun fight for the fans.”
Lozano is a Bellator MMA veteran like DiSciullo. And while they both agree the stakes are high at CES 43, they don’t agree on the outcome.
“I’ve never been one to shy away from a tough fight, and when it gets tough, I’m not one to back away from a fight,” the Lancaster, Pennsylvania fighter said.
“This is going to be a good scrap, man.”
