Maverick 27 results – Champions on the rise
Maverick MMA officials held their Maverick 27 fight card from the Signature Event Center in Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania this past Saturday night.
The March 23 fight card was headlined by a mixed martial arts contest between a pair of debuting professionals at 145-pounds. Josh Ugalde and Richie Martinez both sought to earn their first pro win after they each went undefeated as amateurs with perfect 4-0 records. Ugalde, formerly an amateur champion with Maverick MMA, was able to control the contest for the majority of the fight, ultimately submitting Martinez with just five seconds left in the action.
In the co-main event slot, Brittany Bickhart and Dianna Karavas also looked to achieve their first pro wins as they met at a catchweight of 140-pounds. Bickhart never looked as impressive as she did in Brodheadsville, submitting her opponent in just 61-seconds.
Jared Rivera put his advanced amateur middleweight title on the line against the challenger, Joe Crowley. Rivera, who steamrolled through his previous opponents, had his hands full with Crowley who approached the fight with a never quit attitude. Crowley got in Rivera’s face and made the fight ugly, forcing the ruling to go to the judges’ scorecards where he picked up one round. Rivera retained the title by way of unanimous decision.
Former amateur strawweight title holder Janii Rosario looked to capture the title she previously held as she met Alaina Dutill for the currently vacant championship. While backpedaling from an attacking Dutill, Rosario snuck in a punch that shut her opponent’s lights out like a switch. With the win, Rosario is now a two-time Maverick MMA strawweight champion.

Also, UFC 300 headliner and light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira was in the house for the action along with former champion Glover Teixeira.
