Michael Bisping calls Khamzat Chimaev the UFC’s new “supervillain”
UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping called Khamzat Chimaev the UFC’s new “supervillain.”
Chimaev missed weight for his scheduled UFC 279 main event against Nate Diaz, throwing the entire card in disarray at the last minute. To make matters worse, Chimaev shrugged his shoulders like he didn’t care and then he gave the media the middle finger after missing weight. After he dominated Kevin Holland in his new fight at UFC 279, Chimaev swore at the audience as they showered the Swede with boos following his flawless Octagon victory.
Speaking on his YouTube channel following the event, Bisping spoke about Chimaev and gave his honest thoughts. As far as Bisping goes, Chimaev is the UFC’s new biggest heel.
“The UFC officially has a new supervillain. I am, of course, talking about Khamzat Chimaev, ‘Borz,’ the ‘Wolf.’ Come on, when he walked out to that fight, the boos from the crowd were like nothing I’ve ever heard. I used to get booed a fair bit, as well, but that took the biscuit. That was mental. He didn’t give a sh*t, and then he’s flipping off the crowd, then he’s talking sh*t, and he’s talking about killing people left, right, and center. Listen, I absolutely love it. It brings a lot of controversy, it brings eyeballs, and it’s very, very polarizing. He’s a legit bad guy. He’s straight out of a Bond movie,” Bisping said (h/t MMAjunkie.com).
It will be interesting to see what the UFC does with Chimaev next. Obviously, the promotion has a legitimate superstar on their hands in him, but at the same time, he did miss weight. Although he has looked great at welterweight in the past, it feels like he might have to move up to middleweight for his next fight. Either way, expect the crowd to boo him once again.
Do you agree with Michael Bisping that Khamzat Chimaev is the UFC’s new supervillain?
