Michal Materla finishes Kendall Grove at a wild KSW 78
The first KSW event of 2023 went down Saturday night, January 21, live from the Netto Arena in Szczecin, Poland, and it started the year off with a bang.
XTB KSW 78 had six incredible finishes and some wild fights & performances. The main event saw a rematch that was ten years in the making. Polish MMA legend Michal Materla (32-9) defeated a valiant Kendall Grove (24-19) with second round TKO after a back and forth battle that rivalled their first fight.
Tomasz Romanowski (18-8) beat Radoslaw Paczuski (5-1) in a barnburner co-main event. The duo went toe to toe for fifteen minutes of pure chaos. The judges awarded Romanowski a razor thin split decision victory.
Elsewhere on the card, Roman Szymanski (17-6) submitted Georgian champion Raul Tutarauli (31-7) with a first round armbar, Valeriu Mircea (28-8-1) KO’d former champ Borys Mankowski (22-11-1) with a devastating flying knee, and Kleber Silva (21-11) stunned & shocked the arena with a brutal KO win over Lukasz Sudolski (10-2).
