MMA betting ahead of the upcoming UFC Edmonton card
UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield vs. Namajunas (also known as UFC Edmonton or UFC Fight Night 246) is an upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that will take place on November 2, 2024, at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
A women’s flyweight bout between Erin Blanchfield and former two-time UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas will headline the event which marks the promotion’s third visit to Edmonton and first since UFC 240 in July 2019. The flyweight showdown pairs the No. 3-ranked Blanchfield against No. 5-ranked “Thug Rose”, with the winner moving within striking distance of a 125-pound title shot (behind Manon Fiorot).
MMA betting can be a very entertaining, and potentially profitable, venture. But first, you have to know the basics about how it works.
For the UFC Edmonton card, Blanchfield is currently a slight betting favorite at -120 against +100 for the underdog Namajunas. But all that can change in an instant.
If you were to bet on Blanchfield, you would have to put down $120 to win $100. So, if you put down $600, you would win an additional $500 because for every $120 you risk, you win $100. Of course, you could bet less, but you would win less.
On the flip side, if you bet $100 on Namajunas and she wins, you will take home an extra $120. For every $100 you risk, you earn an additional $120.
The Blanchfield-Namajunas matchup is intriguing because it pairs a young submission artist against a former world champion who has proven time and again that she can overcome the odds and rise to the top.
Also, heavyweight finishers collide when No. 11 ranked contender Derrick Lewis locks horns with No. 13 Alexandr Romanov. Lewis, a former title contender has been a staple with the UFC for a very long time. His opponent Romanov was on a five-fight win-streak upon entering the UFC. After losing the next three bouts in a row, this contest against Lewis is a must-win which makes for a very dangerous fighter.
Additional bouts on the card include:
• Marc-Andre Barriault (16-8 1NC, fighting out of Boca Raton, Fla., USA by way of Gatineau, Que.) collides with Dustin Stoltzfus (15-6, fighting out of Germersheim, Germany) at middleweight
• No. 13 ranked flyweight contender Ariane da Silva (17-9, fighting out of Curitiba, Brazil) faces rising No. 14 Jasmine Jasudavicius (11-3, fighting out of Niagara, Ont.)
• Chad Anheliger (13-7, fighting out of Calgary, Alta.) squares off with Cody Gibson (21-10, fighting out of San Luis Obispo, Calif.) in an intriguing bantamweight bout
