Most Anticipated MMA Fights Of 2022
UFC fans rejoice as this summer UFC is packed with great fights! Question is which of these fights are the most anticipated for the Year of 2022.
July 2 Seon O’Malley VS Pedro Munchoz
Starting off our list is none other than Arizona’s Seon O’Malley, one of UFC’s brightest when it comes to young contenders in the bantamweight class. After recently being knocked out during his single fight against Marlon “Chito” Vera he is yet to prove himself. The UFC odds in Canada will be intriguing. O’Malley is known for his smooth striking, but Munhoz is a huge step up in competitiveness. The Brazilian certainly has the toolset to beat O’Malley.
Munhoz has never been stopped in 27 fights, he’s also good at wrestling and jiu-jitsu, as opposed to O’Malley.
Will O’Malley pass a serious test and prove he’s a danger to champion Aljamain Sterling? Will Munhoz expose him? One way to find out, see you July 2nd.
July 2 Miesha Tate VS Lauren Murphy
As of recently throughout 2022 we have witnessed some explosive action from the women’s division. Unfortunately, so far the summer itself has women’s action a little sparse. That being said there are some great bouts on the UFC 2022 schedule with a lot of hype from many fans for the riveting bout Mishe Tate VS Lauren Murphy come July 2nd.
Tate has long been battling it out in the cage, starting in 2007 with barely any competition at the time. Come 2016 Tate actually became champion. In 2019 she retired from the UFC and decided to work for Singapore’s One Championship.
Tate’s battle with Murphy is intriguing since it will be her first at 125 pounds after fighting at 135 and 145. If she fails to beat Murphy, her comeback is over. If she wins, she’ll have several fresh and new fighters to challenge in a new weight class.
July 30th Derrick Lewis VS Sergei Pavlovich
Derrick Lewis has made quite the name for himself in the octagon even scoring the most knockouts in UFC history! He’s also known for one of UFC’s most famous lines but we cannot mention it here.
Although Lewis took it to Francis Ngannou winning a unanimous decision in arguably one of UFC’s most disappointing fights he has since been 2-2 in his previous four fights. A knockout loss to Ciryl Gane and Tai Tuivasa would mean that another loss would diminish his credibility as a championship candidate despite calls for a rematch fight against Ngannou.
Pavlovich won’t be easy either. The 29-year-old Russian lost his first UFC fight to Alistair Overeem (one of the hardest debuts ever) but has won three straight by stoppage since. This heavyweight bout might be over in seconds so keep your eyes peeled!
September 3 Tai Tuivasa vs. Ciryl Gane
Tai Tuivasa is admired for his antics from outside Octagon as well as for his MMA exploits. When the shooey-drinking Australian knocked out Lewis with elbows in his previous bout, he became a real championship challenger. Tuivasa faces Ciryl Gane on Sept. 3 for a crack at the heavyweight crown.
Gane, a former interim heavyweight champion, is probably the 2nd best in the division only sitting under Ngannou (Ngannou defeated Gane). The Frenchman has an exceptional battle IQ, world-class Muay Thai striking, and unlimited agility.
It remains to be seen how his skilled, tactical style compares to Tuivasa’s hyper-aggressive and explosive fighting, but it should be entertaining anyway.
