Movlid Khaybulaev on Brendan Loughnane main event at PFL 9
Movlid Khaybulaev tests skills with Brendan Loughnane in a featherweight fight positioned as the main event for PFL 9.
The latest from Professional Fighters League goes down Friday, August 27th from Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The broadcast takes place on ESPN 2 and ESPN+ as the 2021 PFL Playoffs continue.
Khaybulaev is unbeaten across nineteen pro mixed martial arts contests. He has a deep resume across multiple reputable promotions including ONE Championship, UAE Warriors, and Fight Nights Global to name a few.
In his second season with the PFL, he has a great deal of momentum with his last victory seeing him emerge victorious over 2019 tournament champion Lance Palmer. Movlid Khaybulaev looks to jettison from getting past last season’s divisional kingpin and position himself in the 2021 finals towards October’s end.
To do that, he must get through a UFC, BAMMA, and ACA veteran in Loughnane.
I spoke with Khaybulaev at the PFL Pre-Fight Presser through the aid of a translator. The excerpt from our interaction is below.

Movlid Khaybulaev
I was noticing at the earlier juncture in the career, there were maybe some pronounced gaps between fights.
I’m kind of wondering about the thoughts on getting that regular rate of activity in PFL. Just Movlid’s thoughts on fighting a few times across a few months.
“I wouldn’t say that I had downtime necessarily. Yes, there were no official fights. But we have a big camp. We always train together. Some of my guys had fights. So I’ve been preparing them and training with them. There’s been a lot of work with them. And regardless of lack of official fights, I’m always working on myself. Whether it’s psychologically or physically to stay fit. Yeah, I mean I’m really glad that we are back and it’s time to show what we have.”
