Movsar Evloev vs Aljamain Sterling slated for UFC 307

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 5 to bring us UFC 307.

A 135 lb title bout is expected to take place at this event between UFC women’s bantamweight champion Raquel Pennington (16-8) and former champion Julianna Pena (11-5), and we’ve just been informed of an exciting featherweight bout being added to the lineup as well.

Former UFC bantamweight champion and no. 8 ranked featherweight contender Aljamain Sterling (24-4) is scheduled to make his sophomore effort at 145 lbs opposing no. 5 ranked former M-1 Challenge bantamweight champion Movsar Evloev (18-0).

Sterling moved up to 145 lbs for his most recent appearance when he defeated formerly no. 8 ranked Calvin Kattar (UD) earlier this year in April at UFC 300.

Prior to that he’d lost his bantamweight title to current champion Sean O’Malley (TKO) last August, a fight expected to be his fourth title defense, and a fight he went into on a nine-fight unbeaten streak with wins over the likes of Brett Johns (UD), Cody Stamann (Suloev stretch), Jimmie Rivera (UD), Pedro Munhoz (UD), Cory Sandhagen (rear naked choke), as well as former UFC bantamweight champions Petr Yan twice (DQ, SD), TJ Dillashaw (TKO), and Henry Cejudo (SD).

Evloev on the other hand, following victory in four-straight M-1 title fights, has gone a perfect 8-0 thus far into his promotional tenure with wins over the likes of Seung-Woo Choi (UD), Enrique Barzola (UD), Mike Grundy (UD), Nik Lentz (SD), Hakeem Dawodu (UD), Dan Ige (UD), Diego Lopes (UD), and most recently no. 6 ranked Arnold Allen (UD) earlier this year in January.

This is a very compelling matchup between the two best wrestlers in the entire 145 lb division.

Who wins this featherweight bout going down at UFC 307?

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
