NBA player James Johnson on facing UFC champ Jon Jones in MMA – “I think I could beat him for real”
James Johnson, a professional basketball player currently signed to the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, feels that he can beat UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones in an MMA fight.
Yes…. you read that right. A basketball player has stated on record that he feels he can beat one of the pound-for-pound greatest fighters of all time…. in a fight.
But wait….. Johnson is not just your average basketball player. He is a second-degree black belt in karate and has an impressive 20-0 kickboxing career and was undefeated as an amateur in MMA. He stands a 6’8″ and weighs approximately 240-pounds.
While speaking on Ryan Hollins’ NBA Rookie Life show Johnson said, “I think I could beat him (Jones) for real. With a year of training defense, I just need ground defense… I’ve been punching and kicking since I was five, six years old.”
