Nick Caracappa hungry and focused for Ring of Combat 85

Video interview with Nick Caracappa below:

Ring of Combat 85 will take place on Friday evening, September 20th at the Tropicana, AC Casino and Hotel resort.  Former world kickboxing champion Louis Neglia Jr and Dead Serious MMA’s Frankie Perez are at it again as they continue to stack events cards with title fights and some of the best talent in the region. On this night, Bellator veteran Ricky Bandejas will challenge defending ROC bantamweight champion, Sebastian Ruiz for his strap.  In the co-main event, Jimmy Drago looks to continue his string of impressive performances as he welcomes the undefeated (5-0) Alonzo Turner.  This will be for Drago’s ROC welterweight title.

The card is full of interesting matchups.  Former ROC featherweight champ Phil “the Hitman” Caracappa has both of his younger brothers, Matt and Nick, scheduled to go to battle.  I took the trip to Dante Rivera BJJ in Freehold, NJ to visit Nick Caracappa and see how he was feeling about camp and trying to get in there and earn his first pro win.  He and I have chatted for years about the fights and I’m happy to be cage-side for this one on the call with “Raging” Al Iaquinta and Professor Jay Regalbuto.

Nick is a type A personality, and I just know that he is consumed by training and the sport.  I asked him how he copes with it.  He tells MyMMANews

“It’s been over a year since I fought.  My mind can take over when I’m not occupied and that’s when I can get to a dark place. My friends and family are so important, and I just bought a new 75-gallon fish tank. They are like my dogs.  I just take care of them every day.”

Please check out our interview on the link above.  Nick talks about his loss in his debut and what he sees for this fight against Alex Brown.

Doors open at 8pm and the first bell will be at 8:30 pm.  The stream will be absolutely free on the Streaming Pulse App.
