Nick Diaz, UFC 266

Nick Diaz will be back in the octagon, faces Vicente Luque in Abu Dhabi

Nick Diaz returns to the UFC’s octagon when he faces Vicente Luque at UFC Fight Night on Aug. 3 in Abu Dhabi.

On Wednesday, UFC CEO Dana White announced the main card for the event being held at Etihad Arena.

Diaz, 26-10, has not fought since UFC 266 in September 2021 when he was grossly outclassed by former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler.

Prior to that, Diaz, who is now 40-years-old, last competed in 2015 in a bout that was overturned to a no-contest against Anderson Silva. In the last decade, Diaz has only competed twice.

In a bantamweight matchup, Cory Sandhagen (17-4) will meet Umar Nurmagomedov (17-0), cousin of Khabib Nurmagomedov, in the main event. Additionally, White announced matchups between former bantamweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and Marlon “Chito” Vera, a flyweight bout between Mackenzie Dern and Loopy Godínez and welterweight matchup between former interim lightweight champ Tony Ferguson and Michael Chiesa.
