Oliver Enkamp

Oliver Enkamp – Bellator Top 10 Spot Looming

Since jumping ship from the UFC to compete in Bellator, deadly submission artist Oliver Enkamp has begun to make his mark on the Bellator’s welterweight division. With four wins since joining Bellator, win number five could come this November when Enkamp battles Baysangur Chamsoudinov at Bellator Champions Series.

Finding MMA

A master of many arts, Enkamp came to MMA by way of his deep studies in the art of grappling. It all started though, back in the family dojo. “My background is in Karate, as I grew up in my family’s Karate dojo. This was my life path until I found MMA in high school and saw successful Karate fighters like Lyoto Machida and GSP become champions,” Enkamp told MYMMANEWS. “I got inspired to widen my martial arts skills as well, and started studying the grappling/wrestling arts, which led me to competing in MMA.”

Building a Champion

Understanding it takes a complete team many years to create an MMA fighter to the caliber of Enkamp, there have been many moving parts that have built the Swedish finishing machine. “There have been a lot of coaches/mentors along the way, but if I am to name one it would be my head coach Omar Bouche, who brought MMA to Sweden and started Pancrase Gym here,” started Enkamp. “He is truly a genius when it comes to the fighting arts and putting it together in a simple and brutal manner!”

In addition to training his professional career at Pancrase Gym, Enkamp also runs his own Combat Academy where he is the coach on a daily basis.

March Toward Impressive Bellator Run

Enkamp turned professional in March 2013, where he was victorious via inverted triangle choke. After an impressive 6-0 undefeated start, Enkamp found himself very quickly under the big lights of the UFC. Though his two bouts did not go as planned, Enkamp found his next landing spot in Bellator, where he won three in a row, all by first round finish. One of those wins included a Japanese Necktie, which he earned in October 2020 against Emmanuel Dawa.

“With a win over the hyped ‘Baki’, I could be looking at getting in the top-10 rankings again. A spot that I lost to my former opponent Kyle Crutchmer after starting out 3-0 with three first-round finishes!” said Enkamp. “It will be explosive. We are both well-rounded fighters with opposite strengths, which promises for a high-paced fight and whoever is able to implement their game plan most effectively will come out victorious.”
